Based on a report by vit\u00e9z Zolt\u00e1n J\u00f3zsef Moln\u00e1r, the Seat Captain of Northeast Hungary Region of the Order of Vit\u00e9z, the remains of a World War II Hungarian honv\u00e9d (soldier) were exhumed on 17 October 2024 at the Kenderes farmstead in Balk\u00e1ny, Szabolcs-Szatm\u00e1r-Bereg County. The exhumation was carried out by personnel from the Military History Institute and Museum and the 5th Supplementary and Recruitment Office of the Hungarian Defence Forces Military and Central Registry Command. The identity of the honv\u00e9d could not be established. During preliminary research conducted by vit\u00e9z Zolt\u00e1n J\u00f3zsef Moln\u00e1r in the southern rural area of Balk\u00e1ny, the identities of two fallen honv\u00e9ds were uncovered. One of these might match the identity of the exhumed honv\u00e9d, who was buried without a grave marker. However, records from death registries and oral histories from elderly residents of the local community reference two different honv\u00e9ds. This raises the possibility that there may be two distinct wartime graves in close proximity. Consequently, further local historical research is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
