National Commemoration in Cologne

October 28, 2025

Author: Vitéz Nob. Gábor Hegyi de Agyagfalva

This year’s national commemoration, in keeping with the traditions of the Hungarian Catholic community in Cologne, began in the courtyard of the parish, at the memorial cross. Representatives of the Order of Vitéz and members of the community laid a wreath and prayed together for the repose of the heroic dead of the revolution.

The commemoration then continued in the Basilica of the Holy Apostles, where a festive Mass was celebrated. During the ceremony, several young people received the sacrament of confirmation.

The Mass was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop of Esztergom-Budapest Gábor Mohos and Parish Priest József Lukács. The liturgy was made even more solemn by the musical service of cantor Edit Mustos and baroque trumpeter Vitéz Gábor Hegyi de Agyagfalva.
