H.S.H. Vitéz Prince Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg Staff Captain of Germany Region of the Order of Vitéz, cordially invites you to take part in the Annual Meeting of the Order of Vitéz in Germany, in the tradition of the Hungarian pilgrimages to Passau on 17 and 18 October 2026.
In the presence of the Captain General of the Order of Vitéz, H.I.R.H. Vitéz Archduke Joseph Karl von Habsburg-Lorraine, Royal Prince of Hungary, we shall visit the episcopal city of Passau, which has a long-standing historical connection with Hungary.
The episcopal city of Passau has a long-standing historical connection with Hungary. Here rest the remains of the Blessed Gisela of Bavaria. She was an abbess and the sister of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry II, as well as the widow of Saint Stephen I, King of Hungary, and the mother of Saint Emeric, Prince of Hungary. For centuries, Hungarian pilgrims came in great numbers to her tomb. In 1676, Emperor Leopold I married his third wife, Eleonore of Palatinate-Neuburg, in Passau; she was crowned Queen of Hungary in 1681. Passau and Veszprém in Hungary have been linked by a close town partnership since 2000. Veszprém was founded by Saint Gisela. Passau is also mentioned in the Nibelungen saga, parts of which are set in Hungary (Etzel’s castle).

Dress code: from 15:30 onwards for the wreath-laying ceremony, Holy Mass and dinner: Bocskai with grand order decoration, or dark suit with small order decoration.
Hotel: A number of rooms have been reserved for the pilgrimage at mk Hotel, Passau, Bahnhofstraße 24, 94032 Passau, without breakfast. If you are interested, please let us know in good time so that the reservation can be made in your name, as the number of rooms is limited.
Breakfast: Breakfast places have been reserved for the group at Galeriecafé Simon, Bahnhofstraße 1, 94032 Passau, on 17 October, and at Bäckerei Pilger, Bahnhofstraße 8, 94032 Passau, on 18 October. Breakfast may alternatively be taken at the hotel for EUR 22.50.
Participation in the programme: To ensure transportation to and from Veste Oberhaus, participants are kindly requested to indicate upon registration whether they wish to take part in the visit and guided tour. The same applies to the wreath-laying ceremony and commemoration in Arnstorf at the grave of the 3rd General Captain of the Order of Vitéz, Vitéz Ferenc Farkas de Kisbarnak. Participants without their own vehicle will of course be driven back to Passau.
Costs: Breakfast, lunch and pilgrims’ dinner (all à la carte), as well as hotel and travel expenses, are to be borne by the participants.
